Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity

Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity was established in 1987 and has served more than 200 hard-working families through the construction and rehabilitation of homes throughout New Hanover and Pender counties. Completed in 2013, The Cottages at Cornerstone which includes Gideon Pointe, is Cape Fear Habitat’s subdivision in Wilmington, NC, and they are home to 40 Habitat families.

Penderosa Rescue & Sanctuary

Penderosa Rescue & Sanctuary is dedicated in providing a nurturing and healing environment for abused, neglected and unwanted horses of all breeds. Our goal is to provide them with a safe haven for time to heal and to regain a trusting relationship; while being provided with rehabilitative and compassionate care until such time a loving permanent home becomes available. Penderosa Rescue & Sanctuary will provide a life long sanctuary to those equines unable to find permanent homes, where they can live out the remainder of their lives with dignity and peace at a loving and caring facility.

Cape Fear Garden Club

The Cape Fear Garden Club is a non-profit organization best known for producing the annual Cape Fear Garden Club Azalea Garden Tour ©, featuring the finest and most exquisite gardens in our area, along with the beautiful ‘Cape Fear Garden Club, Inc, Azalea Belles©.‘  In 2018 the club presented ‘Bloomin’ Beautiful!’ April 13th – 15th.  Cape Fear Garden Club, Inc promotes beautification projects within New Hanover County through grants made possible by the proceeds from the annual Azalea Garden Tour. All of the profits from this year’s tour will be reinvested in the community through grants which will be awarded on October 24, 2018. Click here to visit the Cape Fear Garden Club Grants page for more information. The club is quickly moving toward $1.2 million in donations to the community, mainly for maintaining and enhancing the natural beauty of the Cape Fear region.

Cape Fear River Watch

Cape Fear River Watch organizes monthly environmental seminars that cover topics and issues affecting the Lower Cape Fear River Basin. In addition to educational seminars, the Cape Fear River Watch leads clean up efforts, monitors water quality and conducts research for the region's rivers, streams, and tributaries.
